About Angela

I have a bachelor’s degree in biomedical science and a research-based master’s degree in medical science, with specialization in medical parasitology.

I became involved in editing when I was working on my master’s degree, where my labmates (and sometimes lecturers!) would ask for my help when they had to write lab reports, journal manuscript submissions, and theses. I felt that I was making a contribution to science by providing language editing services to these writers, for whom English was a second language, i.e., ESL writers. Most days, editing is as absorbing as research is, if not more!

I also assist writers whose first language is English but who believe that a fresh pair of eyes will yield feedback that will improve their manuscript and/or catch silly mistakes.

I mainly edit papers in the medical and biological sciences (click here for areas of experience), but also work on manuscripts from other fields.

To date, I have aided researchers and students from Southeast Asia, East Asia, South Asia, the Middle East, the Americas, and Africa.

I am based in Malaysia, so I am in the unique position of being a native English speaker familiar with writing norms used in British and American English while being able to translate uniquely Asian expressions/colloquialisms into more conventional sentences. The result is clear coherent writing that does not sacrifice data or detail.
